Wilder Cumbria - All about ponds
About the event
Ponds are excellent additions to gardens and community spaces looking to increase the amount of wildlife they support. They provide homes for familiar amphibians like frogs and toads but also are an oases for other wildlife – providing water for mammals and birds to drink. Beneath the surface invertebrates thrive in the depths, and they can even be home to protected species like newts.
This event will cover what is needed to build or improve a good wildlife pond in a garden or community space. It will cover some common pond problems and will also discuss practical implications surrounding ponds in community spaces.
This event will be a roundtable style discussion, with attendees encouraged to share their own pond experiences. Anybody is welcome to attend, but the event will be particularly useful for community leaders and those considering building a pond.
Refreshments will be provided.
