Rockpool Roadies

Rockpool Roadies

Location:
Barrow area, Barrow in Furness

Earnse Bay, The Bay Project

Wanted: volunteers to collect rockpool creatures and/or take the portable rockpool to groups, care homes, and events.

Earnse Bay is teeming with life – from anemones to starfish, there are all sorts of amazing creatures, making this a fantastic place to visit.

But what about the people who don’t know that the rockpools are there? Or the people who aren’t able to go the beach? How can they discover and enjoy the rockpool life? The answer: we’ll bring the rockpools to them!

Rockpool Roadies are needed to collect snails, crabs, anemones and seaweed from Earnse Bay, safely transport them to the location where the ‘portable rockpool’ activity will take place such as care homes, help people safely handle and learn about these creatures, and return the rockpool creatures to the sea at the end of the day.

If you enjoy helping people and sharing your passion about marine wildlife, this could be the role for you!

Training and support will be provided, travel costs will be reimbursed and there will be the opportunity to shadow members of staff.

There will be training days taking place on:

  • Saturday 29 June, 10 am to 4 pm at Earnse Bay, Barrow. Find out more

Please note that a DBS (paid for by Cumbria Wildlife Trust) will be required.

Please get in touch with any queries.

The Bay: A Blueprint for Recovery aims to help nature's recovery and build stronger community through a range of coastal activities. Take a look at The Bay events programme here.
