Fun in the sun!

Fun in the sun!

Visitors exploring the Eycott Hill meadows

It was our Family Discovery Day at Eycott Hill Nature Reserve on Saturday 27th June. The sun was shining and we all had a great day, and hopefully the visitors did too! Now I’ve finally finished unpacking everything I thought I’d share a few photos.

We'd ordered a lovely new tent so the Thursday before the event we put our team working skills to the test and tried to set it up. Didn’t we all look worried! You’ll be pleased to know it stayed up for the whole event and we’re all still friends!

It was a perfect space for wildlife crafts; we made peg dragonflies, butterfly hair clips, masks, and had our faces painted by the lovely Janet Allen. We even let the children join in!

Storyteller Ian Douglas kept everyone entertained with his stories and wildlife detecting.

Lots of people enjoyed guided walks and the brilliant walk leaders shared their expertise on subjects from botany, to butterflies and dragonflies, to spiders!

I’m not sure what kind of spider they were hoping to catch here…

Thanks to everyone who came along. We have more events planned over the summer and will run another Discovery Day in 2016, sign up to our newsletter so you don’t miss the fun next year!
