This exciting new role will support the Wider Hadrian's Wall Development Manager to drive nature's recovery at a landscape scale along the Hadrian's Wall corridor.
The role will involve working with a small team to identify and carry out initial planning and the development of projects that will form part of the future delivery of the programme.
Wilder Hadrian’s Wall - Development Officer
Location: Cumbria/Northumberland/Scotland border, with an office base at Carlisle or Gosforth in Newcastle
Salary: £14,723.50 per annum (£29,447 FTE) based on a 17.5-hour week, plus 9% employers pension contributions.
Contract length: Fixed term until 31 March 2027.
About the Project
The role of the development officer will be to support the development manager and help deliver this exciting project in partnership with Northumberland Wildlife Trust. The Wilder Hadrian’s Wall initiative will be supported by a management group that will include senior representatives from both Trusts and project staff.
Purpose of the Role
Working as part of a small team, the purpose of the role is to identify and carry out initial scoping, planning and development of projects that will drive the creation of a nature recovery network along the Hadrian’s Wall corridor. These projects will form part of a future delivery programme for the Wilder Hadrian’s Wall initiative. The role will involve supporting the Development Manager to identify and engage stakeholders and influencers in the corridor.
Our ideal candidate will be passionate about nature recovery, well organised, and an influential communicator. Previous experience working collaboratively as part of a wider team, and a good understanding of nature conservation and land management will also be essential to this role. An understanding of local nature recovery strategies and emerging green finance mechanisms would also be desirable.
Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities will include:-
- Engage with stakeholders and influencers about the project.
- Develop a shared vision for a Wilder Hadrian’s Wall with a pipeline of projects.
- Work collaboratively with the development manager, the project team and supervise placements and volunteers.
- Contribute to a wide range of external communications and events to promote the initiative.
- Support the development manager in developing a shared strategy that will drive the creation of a nature recovery network.
