We are looking for disturbance volunteers to help the wardens to monitor and protect nesting birds and to engage with the public at our nature reserve, Foulney Island.  Arctic and little tern breeding colonies as well as oystercatcher, little tern and eider at Foulney Island, are vulnerable to disturbance and habitat loss.

During breeding season (1 April to 15 August), you will ensure access by members of the public is restricted to designated paths, and ensure Slitch Ridge remains closed.  Nest disturbance by dogs is the main issue for the ground nesting birds on Foulney, so turning away dog walkers is particularly important.

Foulney is accessed via a causeway and the tides must be considered when choosing your volunteering times.  In previous seasons, volunteers attended one day per week or half a day twice a week with tide times in mind.
