About the event

This event will demystify getting the grazing right for your hay meadow. Covering many aspects of grazing management, including: why grazing is so important for meadows, the impact of stocking rates and times, livestock choices and over and under-grazing. Followed by a Q&A session, with plenty of time to ask questions specific to your holding.

Hosted by Ruth Dalton: A native livestock specialist, Ruth spent a decade working for the Rare Breeds Survival Trust, and now advises farmers, land managers and breed societies throughout the UK. She is passionate about how sustainable farming systems can support both wildlife and profitable food production. At home, she farms pedigree native cattle and sheep in the Lake District with her partner, where they carefully manage their land and livestock to increase biodiversity and produce high-welfare, healthy food.

These events have been delivered with funding from the Farming in Protected Landscapes (FiPL) programme in the Lake District National Park
