Do you like spending time in the fells?

Want to help look after the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales whilst doing what you love? Then join us on one of our peatland planting days!

Upland peatlands have special wildlife, not found anywhere else. They are also a huge carbon store, but we estimate almost all English upland peatlands are damaged, releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Cumbria Wildlife Trust has been restoring upland peatlands across the Lake District since 2012. We use heavy machinery to move turf to cover peatland erosion and install peat dams across drains - all technical stuff.

But we also need feet in the fells to plant-up restoration sites with peat-forming plants or survey peat depths.

You don't need any specialist skills to get involved but you will need a good level of fitness and outdoor resilience as peatland restoration sites are often remote.

Can you help us?

If you think you can help then please complete the form below. If your group or business is keen to help there's an additional field to complete below. We'll then be in touch with more information on our restoration projects and dates for volunteering days.
