Help inspire the next generation of conservationists by supporting young people to get involved in our Skiddaw Forest tree nursery. Working alongside Cumbria Wildlife Trust staff, you'll help deliver fun, safe and accessible volunteer sessions where young people can learn new skills, grow native trees and contribute to one of England's largest nature restoration projects. We're looking for enthusiastic, approachable people who enjoy working with young people and are passionate about nature. Experience working with children or young people is helpful but not essential. Good communication skills, patience and a willingness to encourage others are the most important qualities. Some days may be hands on in the tree nursery, some may be spent in the classroom helping young people understand and plan. By volunteering, you'll help young people build confidence, develop practical conservation skills and connect with nature, while growing native trees that will support wildlife and habitat restoration in Skiddaw Forest for generations to come. You'll receive an induction and ongoing support from Cumbria Wildlife Trust staff. No previous tree nursery experience is required. This role involves working closely with children, so is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, including a check of the relevant barred list(s), the successful volunteers will also be required to declare any spent or unspent criminal convictions and we will ask you to provide two referees. |
