We are looking for a volunteer to write monthly, topical articles about wildlife in Cumbria for a regular column in the Cumberland News. Length is around 300-350 words. The volunteer would need to think up ideas for the content of the articles, though advice on this can be given if required. We would like a commitment to provide us with one article per month.

You will have a clear and engaging writing style – we are looking for factual articles (ie not creative writing) that will be informative and appeal to the general reader of local papers, not the specialist.

Experience/knowledge of wildlife species and habitats in Cumbria is clearly an advantage and an ability to write to length and deadline and to submit typewritten articles via email.

This role is very flexible and the work can be done from home
