About the event
Every forest starts with a seed. Join the Skiddaw Forest project and help give native montane trees the best possible start.
This is a relaxed drop-in event—stay for as little as half an hour or spend the whole day helping out. Whether you have a few minutes or several hours to spare, every contribution makes a difference.
Help sort, clean and prepare seeds collected from across Cumbria for future planting on Skiddaw. The activity takes place in the potting shed, making it a great option whatever the weather. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided throughout the day. Although the space is sheltered and there is an electric radiator, please bring warm layers as this is a mostly stationary activity and it's easy to get chilly.
Families are very welcome. Children can get involved in seed processing alongside a responsible adult.
Please wear sturdy footwear and bring garden gloves if you have them (although I'll have spares available). Toilets are available on site.
If you're staying for the whole day, please bring a packed lunch. A microwave is available if you'd like to heat your food, or you can visit the farm shop and café just across the road.
Wheelchair accessible. If you'll be attending in a wheelchair, please get in touch before the event so I can make sure everything is ready for your visit.
