Creating a #WilderCumbria together
A people-powered nature recovery
Wilder Cumbria is a growing movement to tip the scales back in nature's favour and make our county a much-needed wilder place, for people and wildlife.
It's about individuals, communities and organisations taking action to help nature in their area – and if you need support, our team can provide it in lots of different ways.
- be inspired by others taking action for nature
- inspire others with what you're doing
- be part of a movement for nature across the county
Read on to find out how we can help you to help nature.

How to be part of it
Perhaps there’s a scruffy corner on your street that could be a wildflower patch, buzzing with pollinators – but what should you plant?
Maybe you want to get your neighbours involved in creating a ‘hedgehog highway’ through your gardens, but you're not sure how to approach them. Or maybe you’re part of a community group that wants to do more to combat climate change.
#WilderCumbria is about spotting those opportunities to help nature and making your vision a reality. Do you need information, resources or connections?
Our Community Development Team can support you. The team works across Cumbria on a variety of projects and can share their knowledge, skills and expertise to give people like you the power to tackle local issues.
