Do you love wildlife? Would you like to help inspire the next generation of young nature enthusiasts? If so, we'd like to hear from you.
We're looking for keen volunteers to run the Barrow Badgers Wildlife Watch Group - a club for children who are interested in getting out and about and learning about nature.
Aimed at six to 12-year-olds, Barrow Badgers in 2023 by Cumbria Wildlife Trust and keen volunteers, and has been running monthly at Barrow Park. The main volunteer moved away earlier this year, leaving the group looking for other keen volunteers to fill the gap.
Ruth Alcroft, Volunteer Coordinator at Cumbria Wildlife Trust, said: “It’s a joy to be involved with this group. The members are really keen and love exploring the outdoors. There’s enthusiasm from parents and carers, and support from the local council. We just need some more willing volunteers to make it work!”
In the past, as well as making use of Barrow Park, the group has been out to local nature reserves and to the coast to investigate the amazing local wildlife. Volunteers should enjoy working with children and be passionate about nature but don’t need to be experts.
