Our photo competition was open to anyone with a camera, whether professional or enthusiast, and included a class for children. We want to encourage everyone to experience our hay meadow habitats, to explore and capture the life and essence of these special places.

  1. Living meadows – This could have been a view of a meadow in flower or images capturing how people use and experience our meadows.
  2. Meadow wildlife – This showed the diversity of life in meadows with  images of meadow plant species, mammals, birds and insects.
  3. Artistic vision – Here the more artistic photographers had an opportunity to depict hay meadows in more abstract ways.
  4. Junior category (under-16) – This category was aimed at young, budding photographers who used the above categories for guidance and inspiration but had their pictures judged in this category.

All prize winners have their photo featured in our 2016 Cumbria Wildlife Trust calendar . They also received free annual membership of Cumbria Wildlife Trust.

Prizes were also awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category, as follows:

1st - £100 voucher for camera equipment
