Nextdoor Nature projects

Nextdoor Nature is bringing communities together to help nature flourish where they live and work! Thanks to £5 million funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Nextdoor Nature will provide people with the advice and support they need to help nature on their doorstep, and leave a lasting natural legacy in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

So, whether there’s a dull, barren patch of land that could be colourful and buzzing again, or a space that could be a wild but safe area to visit or play in – the Nextdoor Nature projects will help everyone to take action for nature. 

Thanks to the funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund we'll be creating a lasting a legacy for young people and communities in Carlisle, in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

We're working closely with 5 schools across Carlisle to empower young people to make a difference across the city, connecting them with the natural spaces on their doorsteps. We're supporting schools to embed outdoor and nature based learning into the curriculum too, meaning children get daily access to the natural world, and teachers get the opportunity to connect with nature and the wider community too.  

We'll be working with Brook Street Primary School, Caldewlea Primary School, The Gilford Centre, St Cuthbert's Primary School, and St Margaret Mary's Primary School.
