Cumbria Wildlife Trust are making the most of the darker evenings with a celebration of the night sky at Eycott Hill Nature Reserve.

On Friday 20th October at 5:30pm nature reserve staff from Cumbria Wildlife Trust will be leading a nocturnal wildlife adventure to see what mammals, insects, and birds are out and about as darkness falls.

On Saturday afternoon Dr Chris Arridge of Lancaster University will be exploring the planets of the solar system at an event for children and their families at Mungrisdale Village Hall. This session starts at 5:30pm and runs for about an hour and half with time outside (weather permitting!)

The celebration ends with a night sky photography workshop led by Andrew Heptinstall on Saturday 21st October (4:00pm – 9:30pm) where participants can learn to capture stunning images of Eycott Hill Nature Reserve at dusk and in to the evening.

All events are free of charge, thanks to National Lottery Players and support from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Places are limited at these events so booking is essential, please call 01539 816300 or email mail@cumbriawildlifetrust.org.uk to book your free place.

Located between Keswick and Penrith, near to the village of Mungrisdale, Eycott Hill Nature Reserve is 216 hectares of exceptionally rich wildlife habitat and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest for the wetland plants in the swamps and mires and its geology.
