Dotty-Spotty-Sycamores
Are you going DOTTY about the air we breathe?

Air quality impacts on all of us, and one simple way to find out about how clean the air is where you live is to take part in the OPAL Air Survey.

There are two ways to take part:

  • Spotty Sycamore Leaves ~ easy and fun for everyone.
  • Lichen Survey ~more of a challenge!
Spotty Dotty Sycamoressycamoreleaf.jpg

Find a sycamore tree and measure its girth, then simply find 10 sycamore leaves and do 3 things.

  1. Measure the widest part of the leaf.
  2. Count the spots.
  3. Upload your results onto the OPAL website

The Sycamore Tar Spot is a fungus - odd as it may seem, lots of spots on the leaves means cleaner air than no spots!

Lichen Survey
