Local charity, Cumbria Wildlife Trust has won a public vote to win the title of Optimist Charity of the Week.

Local charity, Cumbria Wildlife Trust has won a public vote to win the title of Optimist Charity of the Week.

“We would just like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who voted for us!’ enthused Michelle Waller, of the Trust.  “We were up against three charities with either a national or international focus – so winning the vote really does show how much people care about Cumbria’s wildlife.  It’s fantastic to know that we could rally the support to win with 44% of the votes.”

Cumbria Wildlife Trust will now go through to the next round, Charity of the Year, later in the year where they will be assessed by a panel of judges.  Fingers-crossed that they win one of the cash prizes on offer that will be a valuable contribution to their important work.

And if you’re wondering what there is to be optimistic about… just take a look outside.  It has finally stopped raining, and we live in a beautiful part of the world with wonderful wildlife and amazing wild places.
