Peatland restoration volunteers
Location: Plumgarths, Crook Road, Kendal, Cumbria, LA8 8LX
We are reviving our occasional Moorland Conservation Days, giving volunteers an opportunity to help with our big projects helping landowners to reverse damage to upland peatland habitats by tackling erosion and /or drainage. Previous conservation days have included transplanting native plants, building and repairing small dams, surveying the depth of peat and the size of erosion features. Work sites are at remote and often beautiful locations in the fells, so these days are ideal for volunteers who enjoy fell walking.
