With the sun shining, this is the ideal time for budding photographers to get outdoors and snap some wildlife! Cumbria Wildlife Trust is looking for entries for its photography competition which show the beauty of our county’s wildlife and wild places.

The 12 winning photographs will feature in Cumbria Wildlife Trust’s 2025 Calendar, and the overall winner will also feature on the calendar’s front cover.

The top three prize winners will also receive some great prizes from Wilkinson Cameras. They’ll win vouchers, with a value of £25 to £100, as well a ProMaster photography bundle worth £80 each, including an Impulse handy case, Hitchhiker mini tripod, Hurricane blower and cleaning cloth.

Andrea Simpson, Publications Officer at Cumbria Wildlife Trust says: “We’d love to see the wildlife and wild places you encounter – whether your outside space is a window box or a few acres, or your rambles lead you through woodland, open countryside or along the coast. So keep your camera close and get ready to capture your connections with nature! We're keen to see entries from across the year, to reflect all the seasons, so don't forget to look back and submit any past favourites too.

“Whether it’s interesting animal behaviour, stand-out flora, unusual insects or familiar friends – capturing these encounters on camera is a wonderfully satisfying way to preserve your connection with nature. And don’t forget, all competition entrants have the chance to win a fantastic prize courtesy of Wilkinson Cameras!”

The closing date for entries is midnight on 16 June 2024.
