You can help us to make a real contribution to the conservation of Cumbria's wildlife and wild places by giving your time and volunteering with us.

With your support we are able to:

• protect Cumbria's wildlife for the future
• help others enjoy Cumbria's wildlife
• manage wildlife reserves throughout the county
• stand up and campaign for wildlife 

People bring a whole range of different skills and interests to Cumbria Wildlife Trust and you do not have to be a wildlife specialist to help. Neither do you have to be a member but your membership or donation helps to fund our work.

What you can get involved with:

Many volunteers undertake surveys to provide important information and data about Cumbria's wildlife. This work is really important in that it helps us to develop a greater understanding of our wealth of wildlife and so be in a better position to conserve it.

Planting trees, building boardwalks, scrub clearance are all key areas of work for the Trust and volunteers help us by turning out in all weathers to undertake practical work on our 40 nature reserves.

Many volunteers are members of the 13 Local Support Groups and so help the Trust by raising money, organising activities such as fun days and garden open days. They also help us promote the work of Cumbria Wildlife Trust through regular walks and talks.

There are four Watch groups in Cumbria, organised and run by volunteer leaders. These provide excellent opportunities for young people to get together and learn more about their environment and get involved in a range of activities, including arts and crafts, bug hunts and watching badgers.
