Cumbria Wildlife Trust and Borderliners Orienteering Club are encouraging people to have a go at orienteering at an event at Eycott Hill Nature Reserve on Saturday 14th October.

There will be courses for all ages and abilities and new people to the sport are very welcome. Registration will take place between 10:00am – 11:00am, booking is not required so just turn up for registration and have a go!

A small donation of £3 for adults and £1.50 for children is payable to Borderliners Orienteering Club for this event.

Jody Ferguson, Eycott Hill Communication and Events Officer for Cumbria Wildlife Trust said “We’re delighted that Borderliners Orienteering Club continues to run events on Eycott Hill Nature Reserve. Different courses mean that all the family can try this exciting sport and improve their navigation and map reading skills in a beautiful setting surrounded by the northern Lake District fells.”

Located between Keswick and Penrith, near to the village of Mungrisdale, Eycott Hill Nature Reserve is 216 hectares of exceptionally rich wildlife habitat and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest for the wetland plants in the swamps and mires and its geology.

Thanks to National Lottery Players, and support from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Cumbria Wildlife Trust is carrying out a five year project to create habitats for wildlife and a place for people to enjoy.
