An exciting new wildlife project to engage with those living around Morecambe Bay has been launched by Lancashire and Cumbria Wildlife Trusts. The area is known for its beautiful scenery and wildlife and this exciting new project will give local people from both Lancashire and Cumbria a chance to learn and engage with the coastal environment around them.
The Morecambe Bay: A Wealth of Wildlife project aims to connect communities with the inland, coastal and marine environments through a series of initiatives that will increase access to the beautiful natural places between Fleetwood and Ulverston.
Led by the Lancashire Wildlife Trust and in partnership with Cumbria Wildlife Trust, this project will run family events, walks and training opportunities for everyone to engage, explore and experience the wildlife delights of Morecambe Bay.
Supported by Natural England through Access to Nature, as part of the Big Lottery Fund's Changing Spaces programme, this project will also be working in partnership with many other organisations and will encourage a greater diversity of people to connect with wildlife.
It will give opportunities for people to take ownership of their local environment in the future and provide training and resources to help people appreciate and protect the natural environment beyond the lifetime of the project.
