So, please take a look at the site and help you local charity to win. “Please support us and our increasingly important work by voting.” urges Michelle Waller, of the Trust. “It is free for you and a huge help for Cumbria Wildlife Trust!” Voting closes at the end of Thursday, 21st August. | Save our sealife
Cumbria’s sea life is under threat. Over half of the world's fisheries are fully exploited and a further quarter is over-exploited or depleted. Some fishing techniques damage the seabed and kill the creatures living there, and a quarter of all animals caught are thrown back into the sea dead or dying because they are not the intended catch. Cumbria Wildlife Trust is calling for all Cumbrians to help save our seas by buying and eating sustainably caught seafood. Our Wild Oceans campaign is helping you to get underway by offering seafood cooking classes and taster sessions during National Seafood Fortnight 5-21 September. | Our print gets greener
Cumbria Wildlife Trust would like to congratulate our printer, Reeds, on becoming a greener company. The local printing company has announced their achievement in gaining the coveted ISO14001 accreditation – the internationally recognised standard in Environmental Management Systems (EMS). The company joins a select few in the UK to achieve the accolade. |
