October 2009Dear Even with the days getting shorter and the cold moving in there is still plenty to do to support Cumbria Wildlife Trust. Now is a busy time for our conservation work parties which rely on volunteers to get important work done. Our local groups will also be busy this season with a number of different events exploring the wildlife and wild spaces of Cumbria. There are conservation work parties and events right across the county to get involved with. Have a look at the events list below to find one near you.

Red squirrels need you this OctoberSave our Squirrels, a northern Wildlife Trusts project, is asking everyone to get out and about to look for squirrels, both red and grey, during October 2009 in the Great North Squirrel Hunt. The sightings will help us to compare the distribution of red and grey squirrels to last year. Sightings can be reported online at www.saveoursquirrels.org.uk or call our hotline on 0845 347 9375.
Also National Red Squirrel Week runs from October 3rd-11th so its a great time to raise some money for Save our Squirrels. How about a cake stall, sponsored swim, or a charity disco? All funds would be much appreciated and will help the save our squirrels campaign. Click the link for more information on the Save our Squirrels project. |
