How we are run

The Trust is a registered charity (no 281711) and a company limited by guarentee (registered in England no 724133) governed by its Memorandum & Articles of Association. The Trust was established in 1960.

The Trust has a Board of Trustees that consists of 12 members elected by the Trust's membership. The Board meets around ten times a year. The Board is responsible for the overall governance and direction of the Trust.

Two main committees report to the Board. These are Conservation Group and Development Group.

The Conservation Group oversees and develops the Trust's work on our reserves, our wider work on promoting conservation of wildlife habitats in Cumbria and our work to enthuse and inspire people throughout Cumbria about wildlife.

The Development Group oversees and develops the Trust's fundraising, membership and marketing activities.

Responsibility for all operational management of the Trust is delegated by the Board to the Cheif Executive and his staff.

Annual General Meeting

The Trusts's Annual General meeting which is held at a different venue each year, is open to all members and is an oppurtunity for you to formally ask questions of the Board. We try to make the event interesting by combining the short business meeting with light refreshments and presentations from the Trustees and staff on current topics.
