Cumbria Wildlife Trust has many methods of fundraising to generate the funds needed to achieve our charitable aims. Over 50% of our income comes from grant giving organisations and around one quarter from our membership. Click here to find out more about joining the Trust. A gift in your Will is also incredibly important as it often provides us with a capital sum to enable us to purchase land or to go ahead with a project. A regular membership subscription, paid by Direct Debit, is very valuable to the Trust. The long-term reliability of membership means that we can plan ahead and respond quickly when wildlife is under threat. We are always on the look out for new members and a from time to time you may be approached by one of our fundraisers in your local shopping area or on your doorstep.
Fundraising at venues
We have been carrying out fundraising at venues for the last six years and have gained many committed members. A diverse range of supporters have joined the Trust though our at venue fundraisers, supporters we might not find through promoting membership in other ways. At venue fundraisers can be found in supermarkets, super stores, garden centres and markets and will have a Cumbria Wildlife Trust display. They are happy to talk to you about all aspects of our work and if you have any queries they cannot answer they can pass your question on to another member of staff.
Door to door fundraising
Our door to door fundraisers generate thousands of pounds which helps us to conserve wildlife in Cumbria. When a Cumbria Wildlife Trust door to door fundraiser approaches your door they will spend a little time talking to you about our work and then leave you with a leaflet which contains further information that you can read in your own time. Our fundraiser will then return to your door a few days later to pick up the leaflet and ask if you would like to join as a member. We train our fundraisers in all aspects of our work from the history of our beginnings to the very lastest projects and so they should be able to answer any queries that you have or pass your queries on to the relevant staff member within the Trust.
We are confident that our fundraisers are enthusiastic and polite but if you have any concerns about a fundraiser who has approached you please contact Katie Keighley on 01539 816300.
