Cumbria Wildlife Trust’s promise to you |
All legacy gifts go directly to our activities in protecting Cumbria’s wildlife for the future.
Legacies are an important source of income for the Trust and we welcome all legacy gifts. No matter what the size, your legacy will make a lasting difference to the future of wildlife in our very special county.
Legacies are used principally for conservation. Our conservation activities are those that enhance the prospects of wildlife throughout Cumbria:
- Creating Wildlife Havens - the purchase and management of nature reserves that are refuges for rare and threatened species and unspoilt places for people to visit.
- Standing Up For Wildlife - advising on policy & planning and campaigning on wildlife issues.
- Creating Living Landscapes and Living Seas - delivering habitat and species projects throughout Cumbria to ensure the protection of places of wildlife value in the county. Through our projects we carry out on-the-ground habitat restoration / creation to address the loss of important wildlife habitat.
- Inspiring The Next Generation - sharing our passion and knowledge of wildlife by involving communities and volunteers in our projects and passing on a greater understanding of nature and environmental issues.
Legacy gifts go into a legacy fund and are attributed to specific areas of work, by the Trustees, according to where the greatest need is at the time. Conservation is always at the forefront of the Trustees’ priorities in deciding the best use of each legacy gift received. The allocation of every gift to an identified activity means we can acknowledge each gift appropriately.
Cumbria Wildlife Trust will honor any specific wishes associated with a legacy gift.
Cumbria Wildlife Trust prides itself on the effective and efficient use of all legacies to achieve our aims. We try to use legacy funds to attract other external funding, thereby multiplying the impact of each legacy gift. Every gift received is therefore hugely valuable to us and we strive to use them wisely for the protection of our local wildlife.
