Muncaster Owlets are first to hear Benjamin the Dog’s latest wildlife adventure

The latest Cumbria Wildlife Trust story recounting Benjamin’s recent adventure and rescue of Norman the Naughty Newt has been launched at an exclusive reading at Muncaster Castle. Can you help with charity's summer event?

Cumbria Wildlife Trust is looking for volunteers from the South Lakes area to help advertise and run an event in June. The Garden Bonanza is the Trust’s family fun day and is on Sunday 13 June. Willing volunteers are being asked to step forward to help distribute leaflets and posters and to set up, man stalls and then pack away on the day.

The Garden Bonanza is an annual event that aims to attract individuals and families who are interested in finding out more about their local wildlife and have fun! As well as having pond-dipping, mini-beast trails, story-telling and garden tours, last year the Furness Bee Keepers as well as the World Owl Trust came along with bees and owls.

To ensure that this day runs as smoothly, safely and economically as possible, the Trust needs volunteers to step forward to help out.

Lucy Histed, who organises the Garden Bonanza for the Trust, said: ‘The Garden Bonanza is a brilliant, fun day but it wouldn’t be possible without the help of volunteers. This year, we have more opportunities available for volunteers to help out - for instance, individuals can help to put up posters in Ambleside, Windermere, Kendal and Grange-over-Sands (and all the areas in between), plus there are opportunities to come along on the day and help represent the Trust to our members and the general public. Of course, any expenses a volunteer incurs will be reimbursed and on the day of the event itself they will receive food and other refreshments courtesy of the Trust.’
