Business brains quizzed to support wildlife

Kendal's professional community put their heads together at a charity quiz evening to raise money to support local wildlife projects. A number of local businesses took part in the quiz, hosted by Moore and Smalley Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors, raising £312 for Cumbria Wildlife Trust.

The cash will go towards supporting the organisation's many conservation projects to preserve wildlife and wild places in Cumbria.

Michelle Waller, Senior Development Officer for Cumbria Wildlife Trust, said: "We have a number of projects ongoing, including Wild Oceans, which aims to encourage people to choose responsibly sourced seafood, and Uplands for Juniper which will assure the future of juniper in the county through targeted surveys and restoration. These additional funds raised will help support this work and a number of our other current projects. It's wonderful that Moore and Smalley chose to benefit Cumbria's wildlife with this valuable donation."

The quiz evening took place at Deja Vu tapas bar, Kendal, and teams from Barclays, NatWest, Temple Heelis, Cumbria Wildlife Trust, Hayton Winkley Solicitors, Moore and Smalley and Pearson & Pearson took part.

Hayton Winkley Solicitors were crowned winners on the night, while runners up were Cumbria Wildlife Trust, who lost out by just a few points.

Michael Proudfoot, partner at Moore and Smalley added: "We are incredibly thankful for the generosity of all the teams that took part on what turned out to be a fun evening to raise money for some very important projects being run by Cumbria Wildlife Trust."
