My last couple of months at Cumbria Wildlife Trust have gone in a flash and it’s time for me to move onto pastures new. In this post I look back on my apprenticeship and reflect on what I’ve learned.

Things have been ramping up as I try to tie up loose ends and prepare for university, and I have spent some time on the Isle of Cumbrae learning to survey marine mammals.

The highlight of June was a fantastic week in Northern Ireland with our marine trainees, meeting Ulster Wildlife’s Nature Skills trainees and rekindling my interest in our seas.

This month I’ve had a last push on my peatland surveys at Black Beck and been on an amazing bird ID course down in Suffolk.

This month has flown by! I’ve enjoyed several sunny days, witnessed some drone action and helped with the recruitment process for the next six marine trainees.

I have taken advantage of the unseasonably warm and sunny weather this month by getting outdoors as much as possible, surveying wetlands and getting some birding in!
