Beginners Photography Course

Posted: Thursday 3rd August 2017 by Eycott Hill

Andrew Heptinstall of Andrew Heptinstall Photography took a group of enthusiastic beginner photographers onto Eycott Hill to teach us firstly how to use our camera and how to use them to take spectacular landscape photos of our nature reserve.

The day started with us explaining what we wanted to use our cameras for and what level of photographer we felt we were. This is where I had to admit I take photos on my phone and that the camera I had wasn’t even mine and that I had no idea how to use it!

The weather was dry and the cloud formations proved to be superbly photogenic for our landscape shots over the summit of Eycott hill. As the afternoon went on we all got more confident at striking out and taking photos on our own.

By the end of the day I was able to focus the camera on subjects and take shots of the rock formations with details in the background. They are not amazing but they are better than what my phone takes and what is uploaded to my social media accounts; which is a leap in the right direction.

Throughout this blog are the photos that I have taken whilst on the course and hopefully I will carry on taking photos on nature reserves; fingers crossed I will get better!
